Thousands of Redheads take over bREDa!
Breda can look back at a fantastic 10th edition of the Redhead Days. A fun-packed weekend where the streets were packed with redheads from all around the world. Every hue, nuance and shade of red was represented. A fabulous party for redheads which of course was also enjoyed by many visitors of a different hair colour.
Estimates suggest approximately 40,000 visitors visited the city of which 6,000 were there to show off and share their ginger locks and looks. The number of redheads attending the group photo on Sunday afternoon, directly after the official opening, was once again an increase on the previous years. This year approx. 18,000 redheads participated in the shoot and almost all of them were wearing the theme colour blue. The Guinness Book of Records is 1,672 however in 2015 the Redhead Days organisation was responsible for the head count. Social Media played a huge part in this year’s festival reflected in the 17,000 likes reported on our Facebook page.
Visitors came from all corners of the globe including USA, Canada, Japan, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand & Micronesia, but of course also from countries nearer to home such as the UK, Ireland, Germany, France and Belgium. Due to the stickers portraying the 85 different national flags which could be stuck to the visitors’ clothing it was immediately obvious from which country the participants came from.
Apart from the regional and national media, the press and other media from abroad were well represented.
